Labor
Chico pulls its labor force from a 50-mile radius comprising Butte, Glenn, Sutter, Tehama and Yuba counties. Lower wage rates are one factor contributing to Chico’s status as a low-cost place to do business in California. The commute time is nearly half that of California as a whole.
Monthly labor force updates for the Chico MSA (Metropolitan Statistical Area) - Butte County are available at the California Economic Development Department, Labor Market Information Division.
